Democrats at the highest level have stopped pretending that they would use state power responsibly if given control of the presidency as their latest impeachment charade is being torn to shreds.

“I’m calling on the GOP to stop Trump’s filthy talk of whistleblowers being spies & using mob language implying they should be killed. Impeachment is not good enough for Trump. He needs to be imprisoned & placed in solitary confinement. But for now, impeachment is the imperative,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said Tuesday on Twitter.

Of course, Trump never implied that whistleblowers should be killed. That’s just Waters blowing off steam. By the way: actual whistleblower Edward Snowden, who came forward to expose state-sanctioned spying in 2013 during the Obama administration, has been exiled to Russia ever since. He has been charged under the Espionage Act, which carries a death sentence. It’s the implication of death that has kept him from returning to the United States, but Waters had nothing to say about that during the Obama administration, and is silent about it now.

Calling for a duly elected president – who has committed no crimes – to be arrested and put in solitary confinement is a level of authoritarianism unseen before the days of the Trump administration. Such a statement would have been unthinkable just three years ago. Now, Americans have become so desensitized to Democrats shrieking about Trump’s every move that we slowly, albeit unconsciously, have been conditioned to think that it is normal to call for horrible punitive measures against a sitting president.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), a 2020 presidential candidate, is calling for something nearly as bad as Waters – for Trump to be banned from Twitter for violating the platform’s “Terms of Service.”

To be clear, a presidential candidate is advocating for the replacement of the First Amendment with arbitrary rules made up by leftist tech executives.

“Look let’s be honest, [President Trump’s] Twitter account should be suspended,” she said on Twitter Monday.

She elaborated later Monday evening.

“His Twitter account should be suspended,” Harris said. “I think there is plenty of, of, now, evidence to suggest that he is irresponsible with his words in a way that could result in harm to other people. And so the privilege of using those words in that way should probably be taken from him.”

So one high-profile Democrat is calling for Trump to be tossed in jail for no reason, and the other is calling for him to be silenced by Twitter, his main mode of communication with the world to which economic markets and geopolitical strategies respond.

This new level of franticness comes during a time when the Democrats failed again to produce damning information that could rightfully lead to Trump’s impeachment, despite promising the public as much. We were told that Trump engaged in a quid pro quo with Ukrainian leaders: investigate Hunter and Joe Biden’s alleged corruption, or lose U.S. foreign aid money.

Trump swiftly released the transcript of the phone call in question, where neither of those topics were discussed.

The Democrats, though, still opened an impeachment inquiry into Trump, but that has lost momentum as subsequent information about the “whistleblower” has emerged.

As it turns out, the “whistleblower” is a CIA agent, meaning that the feds have agents spying on Trump (and they claimed there was no such thing as the Deep State), and the “whistleblower” was not actually privy to the call himself, but rather heard about it secondhand. Earlier Wednesday, we learned that the “whistleblower” brought his complaint to rabid Trump-hater Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and top Democratic Party staff before the complaint was made public.

The whole exercise appears to be another partisan smear destined to fail, not unlike the one Democrats employed when they said Trump “colluded” with Russia to get elected to the presidency in 2016.
